Tameside occurs as metropolitan borough in Greater Manchester in North West England. It lies Septenary miles east of Manchester & consists of the nine towns of Ashton-under-Lyne (where a council is depending), Audenshaw, Denton, Droylsden, Dukinfield, Hyde, Longdendale, Mossley and Stalybridge which were brought together under a single council within 1974.
It borders onto a county of Derbyshire to a east, and the metropolitan boroughs of Oldham, Stockport and Manchester. These are known as fallowing a River Tame, which runs across it.
